Stay away from this company - NF BUILD MART GROUP CO., LTD – at all costs. Its products are dangerous. The owner, Norman Chen, is completely irresponsible.  He has no idea how make windows and doors that comply to UK or EU regulations. His products are not only badly made but pose a serious risk to health and safety.

In 2017 I went to Foshan to meet him and see his company and then ordered  windows and doors for a new build residential housing project in the UK. Over the next two years he made and despatched windows and doors for ten houses and an office.

The quality and service was poor. Interior doors that were completely the wrong size. Front doors that turned out to be rear patio doors. Windows without vents. Door handles and hinges stuck on at random.  Often the door handles were completely the wrong kind, that quickly fell apart. Doors that couldn’t be locked.

His worst crime was making casement windows that actually fell out because he had put the wrong hinges on them. Two upper floor windows, one from House 2 and one from House 7, fell out in June 2023. A gust of wind in June 2023 caused the windows to be pulled out of their hinges. Fortunately, no injuries occurred; however, one resident’s car sustained damage. The window restrainers, though in place, were insufficient to prevent the windows from being wrenched free and falling to the ground. It is extremely fortunate no one was killed.

The pivot hinge, the restrainers, and the turn-only hinge were not fit for purpose. The solid wood casement windows are substantially heavier, with each window weighing approximately 40 kilograms, while the Roto hinges can only support a weight of 15 kilograms. This discrepancy renders the hinges extremely dangerous.

They are of poor quality and not made according to British standard BS-3621 and would therefore fail any insurance inspection. Insurance companies require door locks are fitted to BS-3621 British Standard. The lock and handle self-setting mechanisms should be 92 mmm apart according to BS-3621 but these are 144 mm apart. The front doors supplied do not meet BS PAS 24: 2016.

The two rear patio door fixings are strip 4 mushroom rollers and tilt and turn. They are of poor quality and in several houses have already come loose and need to be replaced in order to secure the house against burglars.  The plastic mounts on the rear patio door handles are not strong enough for the amount of use that they are getting. They all need to be replaced with metal ones. The fractured plastic has meant that the gearbox mechanisms have rusted.

The front doors are also not fit for purpose. The handles are all tilt and turn types suitable only for patio doors not for a front door which is in frequent use.

They do not have a sash lock or a deadbolt. In fact the channels for deadbolt and sash have actually been sealed. So the doors cannot be properly locked and secured and can therefore easily be forced open by any intruder.  The front doors supplied do not meet BS PAS 24: 2016. The handles do not meet standard BS-3621
